After the civil war many communities formed with one thing in mind, FREEDOM. We begin our showcase in Charotte, North Carolina.

Brooklyn Village is a historic neighborhood located in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was once a thriving African American community that was established in the late 1800s and grew into a vibrant hub of black culture and business during the early to mid-1900s.

The origins of Brooklyn Village can be traced back to the end of the Civil War, when Charlotte's black population began to grow as a result of the influx of newly freed slaves. By the late 1800s, a small but thriving black community had developed on the outskirts of Charlotte, just south of the city's center.
